  2. Fun video. It got me thinking, though, the days of taking pride in good work seems to be disapearing. Years ago, people built beautiful buildings and homes. They were individual, personal, and the builders put their own signature on them in one way or another. Cars were polished and driven with pride. Good craftsmanship was valued. Think about what that woman has seen in her life. Very few people had cars when she was small. Building a buying cars in the 1930's? No one had money then. If you were lucky enough to be able to buy a car or own a car, you were one of the few. Now, homes and cars and just about everything else are build in mass numbers, each one looking like the other. I have lived in neighborhoods where every single home was one of three house plans. No personal touches, just clone homes built in a row. I did loved the video. She reminds me of my Gran.

I have to say, this weekend I'm going to get to go see Colin and Brad's show in Pennsylvania. The hubby and I are very excited not only for the show, but for the day trip we are getting to make out of it. Saturday is going to be so much fun. Looking forward to seeing Colin.

    2. I know Molly. I try to search for craftsmanship wherever I can find it. But sadly it is not like it used to be. However there are still people out there, lots of them who do it with pride. Have fun at the boy's show! Such a great show!!!

    6. You're right, Molly!
Now the only thing that counts is that it's cheap...no one cares how long it lasts...or how good the quality is.

      I know I'll never see them...so enjoy it! :)

  4. Great video, God bless her. I have to show this to my mom, she's going to be 80 in December, still lives on the farm and does most of the chores, still drives although not long trips. I just went down to her house and she was mowing the lawn. I remember my mom's stories of growing up in the depression era and riding in her dad's car in the rumble seat. Nostalgia is great! Thanks Deb!

Have fun Molly, always wanted to go but haven't yet maybe someday.

  9. This is such a cute video! What a fabulous lady! I was at my friend Rhoda's house when we decided to check today's blog post, and we both got a smile out of this.

I was at her house to hand her daughter her cell phone. She'd left it at the skating rink, and I'd gone by to pick it up for her last night because they were at an out of town funeral. I was also at their house to get more information because Rhoda's husband is going to try to work on my car some this evening. My car is making a BAD noise and doing painfully icky things while idling. *sigh* I do NOT have the money for this! I wish I had an old vehicle like this lady's. Good craftsmanship, totally able to work on it by myself, nothing computerized, fuel injected, or whathaveyou. I want a vehicle where it can be just me, a toolbox, a good hydraulic jack, and some jackstands.

Actually, I've got an example of my dream vehicle pinned on my Pinterest board:

The vehicle is part of my larger dream home plan:

I want to be like her and living self-sufficiently and changing my own oil on my vehicle when I'm 101! :)

  12. I remember in high school when I was a homecoming queen candidate. I rode in a 1931 Ford Model A. It was AWESOME; older cars are so roomy!!! I felt like a princess!

What an awesome lady. Such an inspiration!

  15. That is really awesome. What a nice and lovely lady.

I know that my Granddad used to build a lot of things that do still work. And he did it all by himself. I'm always amazed, when he talks about the cars, houses and machinery he has worked on.

Nowadays no one does that. Only few people know how to hold a hammer...
    Sad.

If I ever become that old, I want to drive, too. Driving is freedom (though I bet I won't have my old car then ;).
