Charmed
Buffy
Animaniacs
Soap
Man, I could keep going on and on. Add "The Walking Dead", "Downton Abbey", " Falling Skies"
Five shows per genre would be easier, but still difficult. ;)
Remember when there were the weekly plays like "Goodyear Playhouse" and "The United States Steel Hour? They had big named stars like Paul Neuman. Soooo very good.
HUGS,
Karen
how did I FORGET BUGS?????? :(
DeleteNoodles!! And "Soap," but I've only seen it as a DVD set, not during its original run

lol....I LOVED...the "HOW RUDE!" and ofcourse Michelle's every word when she was a baby!
DeleteI keep hearing great things about Game of Thrones, but it isn't on any of the free channels over here yet. D: Anyway, some of my absolute faves are (in no particular order - just the way my brain spews them out):
ReplyDelete1. Friends
2. Whose Line (both UK and US) - seriously that show kept me sane through some tough times, and still does! Guaranteed to have me crying with laughter.
3. The X-Files
4. Star Trek TOS and TNG (geek alert!)
5. Supernatural
6. The Simpsons (because they just rock!)
7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (seriously, so much awesome in one show. And girl power!)
8. Stargate SG-1 (more geekiness, but I adored that show)
9. Doctor Who (but only with David Tennant, because he IS The Doctor)
10. And my new favourite is the BBC's 'Sherlock'
Okay, I know that's way more than five, but Deb cheated so I figured I could too! :D
Star Trek! How could I have forgotten that?
DeleteEvery time I read a list, I realize I forgot something! LOL
I LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Sherlock! <3
DeleteMartin and Benedict.......*dies*
Dawn, I know, I'd forgotten a whole load! They keep popping into my brain - like Blackadder, Monty Python, Red Dwarf, House, and Scrubs. So many great shows out there!
DeleteHolly - Sherlock is fabulous, isn't it? :D Brilliant writing and, yes, those guys are just perfect together. I can't wait for the next series!
Starting filming in January. Gotta get through The Hobbit first! :D
DeleteOH I love you! :D
DeleteI hope my post comes through. Coulda sworn I posted it. :(
ReplyDeleteTake 2. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteAll-time top 3 (the order moves around based on what I'm watching at the time)
1. House
2. Whose Line
3. M*A*S*H
By generation (more or less)
1. PBS-Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, The Electric Company (early Morgan Freeman work!)
2. Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Three's Company, Love Boat, Fantasy Island
3. M*A*S*H, Cheers, Friends
4. House, WWE wrestling (Raw), channel-surfing a LOT
5. Nowadays, I watch a LOT of true crime shows, especially on ID-Investigation Discovery channel. Also Food Network--Chopped, Sweet Genius. Others: Dance Moms, Storage Wars
My daily schedule includes Maury, Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, Judge Judy, Cops, World's Dumbest. Occasionally game show network, and Jeopardy.
And "Lock-Up." More of that "true crime life" stuff. I also find a lot of "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" and "L&O:SVU" reruns on USA. I've JUST discovered reruns of "CSI: New York" and am sorry I didn't watch it when it was on regularly. Catching up now. (Love me some Gary Sinise.)
DeleteOk I love so many of the ones already listed! I'll try for a few new ones I could watch again and again:
ReplyDeleteKids In The Hall, Mr. Bean, Roseanne, Simpsons (the older seasons), Mash.
and just for fun 5 I've actually been watching recently:
Boardwalk Empires, Burn Notice, QI, It crowd, Olympics!
Hmm...thinking...
ReplyDelete1. Whose Line/ Improvaganza/ TUWYL/ Improv shows in general!( I actually remember being a kid and staying up late to watch Whose Line. It was my first time seeing improv. I fell in love with it.)
2. Suits (stumbled across it a month ago and feel in love with it)
3. Perception (a show that actually requires thought!)
4. I Love Lucy and Golden Girls (my grandmother got me started watching these when I was a kid and I love them!)
5. House, ER, and Gilmore Girls (all finished and all have special places in my heart)
Oh, and I like A Game of Thrones too. Have you read the book, Barbara?
DeleteI also liked The Tudors. I am a bit of a history buff.
ER <3
DeleteThe one show I wish hadn't been cancelled so soon was Homefront on ABC in the early 1990s. Great writing, great characters, fabulous actors.
ReplyDeleteI watch pretty much anything shown on Masterpiece Mystery. (Poirot, Miss Marple, Sherlock, Zen, Foyle's War, Inspector Morse, Inspector Lewis, Case Histories)
And Masterpiece Classics (Downton Abbey, Cranford, Larkrise to Candleford...)
If I had to take one set of DVDs with me to that deserted island, it would be the full set of Dick Van Dyke Shows. No question.
I love Cranford and Larkrise to Candleford! Both so fantastic and beautiful. Love Masterpiece Classics!
DeleteMe, too, Steph. These days I rarely watch TV with an American accent. Except major league baseball and Big Bang Theory!
DeleteHey ladies, can the next 5 crazy things be MOVIES???!! :D
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! YES!!! But, of course, it'll end up being more than 5! :) LOL
DeleteHA! yes...please, pretty please?
DeleteLol...And Rigel...I mean....DUH!?!
DeleteMaybe we could narrow it down to a specific genre, or movies starring a specific actor we like. Otherwise, a general "favorites" list could go on and on and on and on and on... etc.
DeleteWell OF COURSE it'll be more than 5. Garsh I have lots of fave movies!!!
DeleteMovies aren't as difficult as tv shows for me :P
DeleteUmmm, I don't know so much "by ages." A lot of my favorites now are my favorites from different thens. Plus, Eddie and I don't have TV channels. Our viewing is all streaming online or DVD's.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite shows through the ages (1970's-2000's):
Electric Company
Super Friends Justice League (the late 70's version, the version with the Wonder Twins and Gleek) (Wonder Woman was my wee childhood hero. She was my all that until Princess Leia came onto the scene.)
The Love Boat
Spider Woman (Saturday morning cartoon)
M*A*S*H
Barney Miller
Double Trouble (I always liked the NYC episodes better than the Iowa episodes.)
Misfits of Science
3-2-1 Contact
Airwolf
MacGyver
Quantum Leap
Night Court
The Equalizer
Forever Knight
Star Trek (original series) (I <3 Spock!)
The Vicar of Dibley
Antiques Roadshow
History Detectives
Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Mythbusters
Many of these, even the older ones, I still watch quite often.
Oh, and, of course, Firefly.
DeleteBut, I never watched it on TV so I don't know if we can count it. I only came to it after the fact via streaming. And, of course, I fell firmly under Nathan Fillion's spell! :D
Oh, and I've got to add The Avengers! But, only the Emma Peel seasons.
DeleteObviously, ST:TOS and The Avengers, I got hooked on as reruns. I wasn't born yet when they were really on.
DeleteEeeeek! Barney Miller! Loved that! I wouldn't be able to put up with Wojo nowadays, though. :)
DeleteI say we can count shows no matter what media we're using to watch them. I'm watching "CSI" now, and it's all in reruns because I never watched it in its first-run life.
DeleteI watch nearly every show online...because it takes ages for them to air in Germany (if they air that is), and I hate dubbing...
DeleteDawn -
DeleteWhen it comes to Barney Miller, I am ALL about Gregory Sierra's portrayal of Chano Amenguale! That's why the first 2 seasons are my absolute favorites.
1. Barney ( I was always watching this as a kid, We still have like 50+ VHS tapes of Barney episodes. I have no idea what we plan on doing with them as no one has a VHS player anymore but we still got them : ) )
ReplyDelete2. Bones
3. WLIIA
4. Friends
5. Three Stooges ( Love these three!! )
OK I will keep it at five......for now : )
janey for someone who doesn't watch all that much tv i can sure come up with more then my quota of what i like to watch .
ReplyDelete1: star trek the next generation. i did mention yesterday i love sir Patrick Stewart . this is the show that started my interests in his work
2: mythbusters
3: house . more for the relationships within the hospital then the medical puzzles . House and Wilson were so good together.
4: real rescue shows such as helicopter heroes . this show follows the work of the Yorkshire air ambulance in the UK and is really interesting .the only time a famous person is involved is introducing each segment or doing small interviews with the air crew .it is mostly just the air ambulance crews going to or from accidents and the accident victims talking about what they are doing or what happened to them . there are also others like highland emergency , 24 hours in a and e and sea patrol UK . all based on filming the real rescue services or hospital staff going about there work and no famous people involved .
5: Monty Python / whose line UK and USA and Drew Carey's improvaganza . well if i am going to watch comedy it is going to be the best comedy i can find !
6: red dwarf
ermahgerd. I love mythbusters!!! GREW UP watching The Stooges. The movie looks AWFUL!!!
DeleteI'm just home now and trying to catch up on all these amazing lists, but had to stop here specifically because Kelly I am on the floor: are you "ermahgerd"ing and "garsh"ing?! And whyyyyy do I find this sooooo funny???
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLassie
ReplyDeleteMy Little Margie
I Love Lucy
ER
Family (with Billy Crystal)
30 Something
Friends
These came to mind first but I know there are others.
Everybody's shows are great! Cannot believe I missed Firefly and then Madge came up with My Little Margie! Madge do you remember December Bride? Loved it. I could go on and on............
ReplyDelete1. The Partridge Family (childhood)
ReplyDelete2. The Mary Tyler Moore Show (adolescence)
3. Knots Landing (young adulthood)
4. Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High (30s)
5. Law and Order (40s)
6. Downton Abbey (50s)
Ohhhh, excellent lists, you guys! Bringing back some great memories. Thanks to many of you who added Canadian shows here. Michael Tuesdays and Thursdays was so so good!
ReplyDeleteI would have if I'd actually been able to watch any! :)
DeleteOh, dear. Just 5 shows? I don't think I'll be able to narrow it down that far...
ReplyDelete1) The Disney cartoons of the 80's/90's (Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, etc.) I loved watching those as a kid!
2) M*A*S*H - Cause who didn't love that show?
3) Jeeves and Wooster - They used to show it on PBS on Saturdays. That was my first look at the genius of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. :)
4) Whose Line is it Anyway - World's coolest show. End of story.
5) Top Gear - For someone who doesn't drive, I really love shows about cars!
There are many others (Doctor Who, Star Trek, House, and so on), but I think these are my top 5.
The ultimate top 5, not counting other favourites...
ReplyDeleteIn no specific order:
1) The Golden Girls: I remember watching these in all states of my life. A real classic that I wish will be on TV for many years to come.
2)Whose line (UK and US): Ah, those memories of "family" night. This was one of the series that we watched. Not all so nice nights, but at least everyone could enjoy the show.
3)Walker, Texas Ranger: I watched this because my dad is a Norris look a like :)
4)Gilmore Girls: Do I even need to explain myself. Just wonderful show.
5)The Pretender: Just because of the idea that you can be anything you want.
