The "Stuff" That We Are Made Of

Barbara: One of the ideas that has been exciting me lately is my newfound awareness that this connection we all feel for one another—even when we hate or disagree with each other!—comes from a very simple source: the stuff from which we are made.

We’re talking about it in my Quantum Physics class and we’re talking about it my writer’s circles. We’re talking about it scientifically and we’re talking about it creatively and spiritually. Because, whether it resonates with you or not, at our very most atomic level, we are exactly the same as everything else. Everything else in the UNIVERSE. It brings that “we are one” mantra to a kind of whole other level, doesn’t it?

Here is a beautiful video by Max Schlickenmeyer that illustrates one such answer from astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson in a Time Magazine interview.

Lego Man in Space

Deb: These are two Scarborough Ontario boys, Mathew Ho and Asad Muhammad, friends from grade school who put this amazing little project together. When Asad came to Canada from India he could not speak any English and Mathew befriended him and involved him in this project some years later. When asked by interviewers how they are going to build on Lego Man in Space, they said, “We are just going to concentrate on good grades and graduating this year and getting into good universities.” Lovely boys with something to tell their grandchildren.

This is the interview:
