The Full Circle

Deb: Loss always brings to the foreground the idea of the full circle, the passage of time. As we searched through photo albums looking for pictures of our friend Paul whom was just lost to us, we came across these. I thought they were a lovely link between Barbara's post on gardening and the passage of time. The span is twelve years. Wow. Just took my breath away these did. Time seems to have sped up when I wasn't looking.

  1. Very appropriate link Deb. My thoughts have been with you and Colin so much since Friday. Your loss is tremendous and my heart aches for your pain and having to watch your dear friend deal with her loss. It makes you look at the speeding passage of time. Your photos are beautiful, your garden looks so peaceful now and has a great patina, that only time can give. It is a great link to Barb's, what a beautiful blog you both weave.

  6. What a lovely garden! The before and after pictures remind me of photos I have seen of the farm where I lived when I was a kid. I just love it how the changes were shown in the pics. Indeed your garden looks really peaceful and like a place where to spend time.

I am sorry for your loss also. I can't imagine what it must feel like to loose a close family friend. Virtual hugs to all those who need it!

Your pool and garden are lovely! Absolutely beautiful! If I ever make it to Toronto, I will totally be expecting to get to swim in that pool! ;)
Luke was an adorable child! Awe... And, just curious, but is Colin wearing the same clothes in both pics, 12 years apart?
Love to you and yours, Deb. xo

  10. I've been thinking about you guys since you told of this tragic accident. How you're dealing with the sudden-ness of it all. I can't imagine the pain everyone is going through, and I send all healing thoughts and huge hugs to you all.

You mentioned on your FB page that you were watching "Getting Along Famously" and laughing, because that's what he would have wanted. I also watched the show DVDs that day. Such wonderful work, and I didn't realize Barb was in it, too. It's great to be able to reminisce about good times.

Your yard and pool pictures show a peaceful beauty that I'm jealous. May it bring you comfort always.

  14. I know exactly what you mean about time. Coincidentally, I was looking through some old pictures of my two girls the other day - it seems like only yesterday that they were toddlers, but they've grown up so much. I'm trying to cling onto their childhoods for as long as possible.

I was so sorry to hear about Paul. Still so young, and incredibly talented (I actually re-watched a few episodes of Getting Along Famously the other day when I heard the news, and I laughed just as hard all the way through as the first time). My heart goes out to you and Colin, and to his family. I know what it's like to lose a father at a young age. It's a tragic loss. xoxo

  16. I had a similiar experience when I looked at pics of my backyard and the trees were so tiny, not anymore.

I hope you and Colin know all our hearts are with you. I'm sorry for your loss but what I have learned is the most healing thing is to do as you've been doing and talk about him. And know you have friends who are here if you need us!
