  3. Beautiful photos. Your son is a cutie!
This month is the two year anniversary of my mum's cancer diagnosis, and the doctor wasn't even sure she'd still be with us after 2 months. So this Mother's Day was even more special! Two whole years of dealing with a rare form of leukemia and chemo, while still managing to be there for her children with support and advice when we needed it. I was so grateful to spend Sunday with all my family, making homemade pizza and cherry cheesecake.

  4. Love the photos. :) Mothers fully deserve a day of their own, although we actually celebrate Mother's Day in March over here. Not entirely sure why! Anyway, I hope you had a fantastic day. x

    1. I think any time of year is great to celebrate Mother and Father's day. As long as we do it!

  5. Oh, Samara, what a truly miraculous Mother's Day for you! :)

Normally, I have to work all day every Sunday. But, a few weeks ago, I decided to put in at work to burn some of my vacation hours and take Mother's Day off. Normally, Eddie would be with his dad on Sundays, but it's in our divorce papers that Mother's Day and Father's Day are to be spent with the respective parent if so wished.

Eddie and I had a lovely, relaxed day. We slept LATE. Bliss! We streamed episodes of Mythbusters (a huge favorite for both of us). We called my mother. We ate homemade macaroni and cheese and honey baked ham (one of my favorite meals). I even indulged and had a bottle of Pepsi in the fridge (not Diet, not store brand generic, real Pepsi! lol). And, we spent hours playing games together. It's was a lazy, fun, silly, happy, mellow day. I loved it!

  8. Barbara here: sorry for posting on this profile, but I'm having a few issues with the other one. I've been wanting to weigh in here for the last 24 hours, to no avail! Anyway, that said, I also wasn't able to post any sweet Mother's Day photos for you ... but that's because we forgot to take them! We had it all planned, but then totally forgot. It was a truly sweet and lovely day, marking the first time in more than a week that Michele could actually do a few things "out and about" after her tonsillectomy convalescence. She's still tender, but she's very much more "with it" now. It was great to enjoy the beautiful sunny day here with my beloveds close by. And they made a gorgeous dinner for me: individual mac and cheese cups (hello, Rigel!), followed by seared halibut, fiddleheads, and curried carrot medallions. Pear crisp for dessert. So mmmmm. Thanks, my darlings!!

  9. Thanks so much for sharing your Mother's Day pics! I went to dinner with my daughter, granddaughter and Matt's (Amanda's boyfriend) family, 23 people in all and it was nice! But there was a void because Ricky wasn't there. Alas my boy will be home on Friday, I can't wait to hug him. On the 23rd of this month my birthday present (from my son) will be to get to go to Whose Live Anyway in Rochester! If we're lucky we'll get to meet the guys afterward because I have a letter I'd like to share with them. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll make it to the Colin and Brad show too at some point! XOXO

  10. So glad you all had a good Mother's Day! I took my mom out to eat and to see a couple of movies and to do a bit of shopping. We are going to a show soon that kind of counts as Mother's Day...

  11. Odin decided that he wanted to go out for coffee (and meet my sister there), and we had a little visit. Then, we went over to my mom's (where my sister lives), and had a short visit with her, and Odin and I got suckered into helping my sister with the apartment buildings' caretaking. :) Odin and I came home, and he suggested going out to a nice restaurant for supper, but I decided that we should just stay home. My husband caught a cold.

So, I guess it was really low key.

    1. Low key can be nice though can't it? Sometimes I love that amidst the busy lives we all lead. Right after our family left, my throat got sore and within minutes I had a full blown cold. I am all in today, Jammies, tea, naps. Must shake it! Tell your husband I know how he feels. :-)

  12. My mother's day was special for reasons that had nothing to do with being a mother, or a daughter, although those both had a few moments of celebration. What made it special is that I took my brother to a concert and it's the first time we've gone out just the two of us in years. I really can't explain how special it is for me to go out with him. I see him often but for the last few years it's always been within the confines of a hospital or health centre. I understand why he's been hesitant to go out since he got his trach as it's a bit of a leap of faith for him to put his life in the hands of someone who isn't a medical proffessional. It was a little scary for I'm sure both of us but he trusts me and I know I've got the training to take care of him properly but still. Especially when I realized the sheeer volume in the arena meant that I wouldn't hear an alarm for his vent over the noise should one go off. I just kept my arm against the tubing so I could feel the vent moving and glanced his way often. I was prepared to face any problems should any come up but it all went well, no problems at all. I really couldn't have asked for a better Mother's day gift than that.

    1. Erin what a gorgeous gift you gave both of you. The leap of faith has such rewards doesn't it? What a beautiful Mother's Day. One you won't soon forget I am sure.

    1. Thanks Holly. Home will come! You are sacrificing for your greater good right now and it will pay off. We missed the boy on a few Easters and Thanksgivings over the last four years and I know that it was a struggle for all of us. Hang in there!

  14. Thanks for sharing the pics, Deb. Looks like such a happy time for all.

My mother received her annual flowering plants to set up around in front of the house. (No planting anymore, just posing.) Home Depot had a beautiful selection of hanging plants. Sarah picked out the usual geraniums. Plant-life is our biggest Mother's Day tradition.

Sarah had slept over Saturday night. Early Sunday morning she gave me a card and a gift. She went to church, then chose to spend the rest of the day with her stepmom's family.

My brother Mark, sister-in-law Candy, and their three kids came over late in the afternoon. Candy and I sat in lawn chairs outside (yay for outside weather!) watching the kids play. (That includes my brother.) Then we all ate subs, and they went home soon after.
    No pictures.

  16. This Mother's Day was truly a unique one for me. Along with two other friends we walked the 10K in support of the run for kids with cancer and Camp Oochigeas. Having never done one of these, I was so impressed with the spirit and encouragement that you experience all along the route - shouts of encouragement, signs to thank you - it was amazing. This was goal one in getting fitter by fifty but when I looked at the virtual map on Sat night, I wondered what the hell I was doing and glad that it was on Yonge, which provided an easy escape route if necessary! I finished which was great, but the absolute best part was seeing my sons and the pride and respect for my accomplishment - that was the best part of my Mother's Day for sure!

  17. Therese that is WONDERFUL! Well done indeed. It is such a great cause isn't it? But beyond what you are walking for is the wonderful sense of accomplishment! I am so happy for you because I know how this feels. Every Mother's Day we do the Meagan's WAlk from Ontario place to Sick Kids hospital and then we all surround the hospital and on cue we give it a big hug. So moving! This year because of your walk, we did ours on the Saturday and it was still so wonderful. Yep you can't beat pride and respect from your sons as a Mother's Day gift can you? Well done!
