Musical Mob

Barbara: Flashmobs always make me weepy and grateful, but this one is truly special. It has a beautiful filmic feel and must have been especially tricky to manifest. I so love it and I hope you do too!

  1. I like the music. I like the flashmobs too. I have a hobby of watching the flashmob vids on youtube :) Haven't yet seen one live, although I have heard that they have had them here. What fun it must be to take part in one.

  3. One of my most favorite classical songs, ever. Edvard Grieg wrote some amazing music. It is a fantastic piece for the bassoon, but I'm partial to the bassoon. Thank you for sharing this, it was beautiful.

  5. That is so wonderful! I once witnessed a flash mob that did a scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Yep, one of the benefits of being a university student during Shakespeare Festival!

    2. One of my favorite things is Winnipeg's "Shakespeare in the Park". It's been done at a few different toursit attractions around the city and it's always fun to see in different settings. This year it's Henry the V and is at an old trappist monk monastery.

    3. Wow, Erin, that sounds great! I am a fan of the American Shakespeare Center. They really are amazing and their theater is beautful and accurate. Even has stage seats!

  7. WOW that must have been so cool to be in that subway/train that morning. We had a flashmob at college the one day. It consisted of zombie people dancing to monster mash. While ours was fun to watch this one seemed much more relaxing for a morning commute.

    1. I was going to say I never saw one in real life -- but you reminded me that I did in fact see a zombie flash mob in Vancouver. It was, as you say, not exactly relaxing, but so so much fun!

  10. The fact that so many people were able to make it to that one car of the train at the same time, and coordinate who played first with the correct instrument is AMAZING. I would have loved to have been a passenger that morning. The best part is the music picked up tempo just as the train came out of the tunnel. Now THAT'S a great way to meet the day!

I've never witnessed a flash mob. I had to look it up to find out what was going on with this video. I'd love to be part of one, but I'll never time that right, either.

    1. Yeah, that's what made this one stand out for me -- the beauty of the film and how it built and arced, as well as the music of course.

  11. What got me was how this brought a smile on everyone face. We should have this every day now in Montreal to calm everyone down.

  12. Loved this and the music so gentle for the morning commute. You know I was in a flash mob for the Trevor project.
