Deb: These are two Scarborough Ontario boys, Mathew Ho and Asad
Muhammad, friends from grade school who put this amazing little project
together. When Asad came to Canada from India he could not speak any English
and Mathew befriended him and involved him in this project some years later.
When asked by interviewers how they are going to build on Lego Man in Space,
they said, “We are just going to concentrate on good grades and graduating this
year and getting into good universities.” Lovely boys with something to tell
their grandchildren.
This is the interview:
This is the whole unedited journey:

ReplyDeleteShalaka I know! Aren't they lovely young men! So happy for them. Plus they are from my old hood.
DeleteThat is amazing. As I was watching these videos, my son was saying "It's just a fake", but I had to explain to him how/why it wasn't a fake video.
ReplyDeleteThat was brilliant. I can tell they're focused, intelligent young men who have a bright future ahead of them.
Jo that is so cute that he thought it was fake! Time for the "truth is stranger (and more interesting) than fiction" talk huh?
DeleteThey were interviewed on NPR and they were so wonderful and full of excitement. Great story. They couldn't believe he landed safely. However, they couldn't find him at first so they went back a week later and there he was, perfect in every way. Great fun.
ReplyDeleteI love that their families were so behind them Madge. The first night the Dad's helped them search and they had to give up because they were cold and wet and it was dark. Such a lovely tale!
DeleteWow. That is just amazing! Bravo to them! I think it is great to see such initiative in teens when it comes to learning and putting what they learn to use, like these guys did. Just wow!
ReplyDeleteSteph I love to hear wonderful stories about teens. Too often they get bad press.
DeleteThat's stinking awesome!!! Just...wow. Really awesome!
ReplyDeleteI KNOW HUH!!!!
DeleteThat's pretty amazing. I always find it interesting what people can do. Especially young people can be so creative and clever!
ReplyDeleteBecki I agree. These boys are going places!
DeleteI've been passing this video around all last weekend, I thought it was just great.
ReplyDeleteErin it is worth passing on isn't it. A nice and inspiring story.
Deletethat was way cool. i am surprised the box and the camera in it survived the fall from altitude , must have been well built . good on the guys involved .
ReplyDeleteI was inthralled Linda both with the story and the quality of these young men.
DeleteWow what such brilliant and creative minds! They surely don't have to worry about getting through the 12th grade.: )
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth Kelly from NJ. No worries there at all! Lovely boys. Smart, kind boys. Done.
ReplyDeletethat is so cool!! i always loved legos and just seeing what two people can do with them is amazing! If they can accomplish getting a lego to fly higher than an airplane, who knows what we, humanity, can do down here?
ReplyDeleteIf only we could build Lego food huh?
DeleteI'm sure there is a way to accomplish that! that would be really neat though... I remember walking into a lego store and just amazed at all the young kids building such creative things!
DeleteI'm only creative when it comes to art--i don't think i could build using legos and make anything look special
DeleteThat is brilliant. These boys are going places!!! Very inspiring. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are going places these boys! I agree!
ReplyDeleteTo Infinity- AND BEYOND!!!
