Deb: One of the first things that my husband and I discovered was common ground was comic books and cartoons. And while I was a huge Archie, Millie the Model fan, I was also into Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Fantastic Four, and that ilk. So I not only loved this, but was a bit jealous. After all, my girlfriends and I just drink wine and talk about clothes. I need some galpals that are willing to tie on a sheet and bank to the left with me!!!!
And you've gotta check out this link for a very funny look at comic book women and men!
Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI know! And the added bonus of the witty and charming Nathan!
DeleteLoved Nathan !!! *Dreamy sigh*
DeleteOh, yeah. I want him. So much. Please. He would be my very favorite toy to play with. Mmmmm hmmmmm.....
DeleteAll these hours later, I'm still stuck back on the part when Nathan Fillion is starting to shed wallet, etc. (as though in preparation for stripping down) and takes off his belt. Because, taking off his pants logically follows taking off his belt, right?
DeleteSad but true for my pathetic, frustrated self. :P
Perhaps it's time to watch THAT episode of Firefly again, hmmmm?
Captain Hammer!
ReplyDeleteAww, Dr. Horrible is awesome! :D

DR. HOrrible is the best. Should post that sometime!
DeleteOne of my favorite teen memories (and perhaps one of the more pathetic ones) was on Friday nights my mom and I would watch the old black and white Superman TV show on Nick-at-Night. We had two favorite, there was one where Superman had to deliver a cream pie to some people in a cabin in the Artic North and another one about a postage stamp that exploded when you licked it. Good times those were!
ReplyDeleteI knew I loved my Hubby when during our first date we discussed the brilliance of "Weird Al" and one of our favorite movies, Weird Al's UHF.
I never missed the old Superman show. And I loved that Jimmy and Lois did cameos in the first Superman Movie!
DeleteMolly -
ReplyDeleteMy ex-husband and I met in the back room of a comic/gaming store. We were sitting across a gaming table from each other in a group playing Illuminati NWO. We had both chosen to play as Discordia.
Our first date began with video games at the arcade at the mall. Our second date was to watch anime (Ranma 1/2).
For his birthday the first year we were married, I got him issues of Knights of the Dinner Table. It was still a brand new comic. They were issues #5 and #6.
*sigh* The long gone good times.
I know. But nice memories though
DeleteAhh, gaming geeks! We are gamers, but of a different kind - computers! My husband likes some of the online games. Not WoW, but several that are similar, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I'm a Sims geek. Been playing that for more than 10 years now.
DeleteMy first date with my hubby was a deep discussion of Weird Al, followed by the watching of Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail. Second date was to see the Muppet's Treasure Island. How could I not love him after that?
Me too......SIMS rocks...!!!!!! I am playing Sims 3 now !!!!!!!
DeleteI have company :P
I'm a video games freak, too! :D
DeleteI have Sims, Sims2 and Sims3, too! :D
But I do like to play ego shooters, too! *is a mean girl*
I Love all you Simm's gals! The boy used to play it on his computer when it first came out.
DeleteMy son learned the point of social interactions from The Sims. :) Thank you, Electronic Arts. :)

DeleteLMAO !!!!"He depends on me on lotta the income......I may wanna rephrase that later XD"
I have to say that I love batman and spiderman. Superman is ok but batman and spiderman kicks ass. Wounder women is cool as well. I always thought she kicked as well. I think the reason I liked her was because she was a women with power . Got to love that . But yeah I'm a total batman and spiderman fan by far
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy nostalgia kick this morning!
ReplyDeleteOf course, Super Friends was the very, very best.
But, did anyone else watch these when they were wee little ones?
While Wonder Woman was always my very, very, very favorite (ever since I was a toddler watching Linda Carter!), when I was a very little girl (circa preschool/kindergarten/1st grade), I thought Spiderwoman and Isis were the most beautiful women in the world. I was fascinated by them and wanted to grow up and look like them. (Yeah, the blue eyed, toehead blonde beach rat little girl wanted to look like Spiderwoman and Isis! LOLOL)

I liked Sluggo and Nancy, Richie Rich and Archie comics. No super heroes for me. I missed the super hero era.

ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieO8MGbZgU8
*haha* that film is awesome! :D :D
ReplyDeleteOMG, I looove superheroes! :D And I have a cape fetish.
My favourite is Batman (or better Robin - I always have been a Robin fangirly).
I prefer the 1960's tv show. I think it rocks! :D
And I've been to the Batman Live World Tour, which was pretty cool, too (although the voices were dubbed, and that was not sooo great).

I bought this shirt last week. Couldn't resist!
Second place goes to Superman (I'm a fan of the Lois and Clark series).
But, of course, Captain Hair beats them all. :P

If you GOOGLE 'Batman socks with cape' the first couple of pictures are like the socks I have
Awww, I want those socks, too! :D They look cool.
DeleteAh, there are Robin socks, too! :D But even harder to get... :(
DeleteI got Colin these amazing drinking glasses at his fave comic book store "The Silver Snail" for Christmas. One is Batman and one is Superman and they have little removable capes around them!
DeleteAAAAHHHH!!!! WANT!!!!!
DeleteFunniest moment from my oldest when she was a pre-schooler, she was angry at me for something and said "I'm going turn into Bruce Banner soon if you keep doing that!" The fact that she said Bruce Banner instead of the Hulk was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteCAPTAIN HAIR!!! XD
ReplyDeleteMan, Holly and I totally watched Smallville when Michael Rosenbaum was Lex Luthor. BRILLIANT. Sheer brilliance!!!!
This video totally made my day. Kind of a crummy day. Thanks for cheering me up :]
Kelly so glad it made your Day. I was out doing a job and came back to find a super party going on! Love it. Made my day!
ReplyDeleteAlso need to give a cheer for the villians! Lex Luther, Dr. Doom, The Joker, Catwoman, Two-face Mwahahaha.
ReplyDeleteYay! :D
DeleteThe Riddler, Scarecrow, Metallo (does Bizarro officially exist?).
Happy childhood memory:

teeheehee <3
BTW, if we are gonna have a conversation that in any way includes comic book heroes, I have GOT to mention Usagi Yojimbo. Samurai Bunny FTW!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little kid and allllll about Super Friends, I always kinda felt sorry for the oddball, didn't always get included, kind of visitor members of the Justice League.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that it was kinda unfair that they didn't get treated as awesomely as Superman, Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Wonder Twins and Gleep. (Yes, I know there were 2 other kids and a dog earlier, but that was when I was still a baby. I came in during the Wonder Twins years.)
Anyway, I always felt bad that the more secondary heroes didn't get as much attention and credit because they had awesome super powers, too. I always pulled for the underdog superheroes. This guy was my favorite of the secondary League members:
Samurai:

Not exactly politically correct. But, it was the 1970's.
As far as villians go, that scarecrow dude in the Legion of Doom waaay creeped me out! I didn't like his hollow eye sockets!!!
And, YES, circa kindergarten, I totally rocked my Wonder Woman Underoos!!! :D
ReplyDeleteSorry, I typoed the monkey above. Meant to say Gleek.
ReplyDeleteOh, and, please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers watching The Phoenix!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SASkqWyn40
BTW, you want superheroes?!?!? You want superheroes?!?!? I loooooooooooooved this show!!! I LOOOOOOVED this show!!!! Long before there was The Big Bang Theory, THIS show was the ultimate in geek TV! LOVE!!!

*laughs*
ReplyDeleteI've been having an internet-wide debate for the last two weeks on whether or not Batman should kill The Joker or not (and why, for either argument).
I also used to work in comics - mostly store security, but I helped throw Wondercon a few times before it was bought out by Creation. I was there for the first Image year (dating myself here), and ate peanuts in a bar with Peter David while we watched people on the convention floor go crazy. I got to spend time with Neil Gaiman, too. Great con.
These days, I'm busy counting down the days til May 4th,...
Michael Rosenbaum= Lex Luthor. Period. Awesomeness. End of story.
ReplyDeleteNeil Patrick Harris did say they were working on a script for a sequel to Dr. Horrible. More Bad Horse!
ReplyDeleteOh and Catwoman- best villain/heroine ever.
Don't see much love for the Marvel verse tho. My nephew & I would have very intense talks about whether Storm could beat Jean Grey or not. He loved to call me Sher cos that was what Gambit always called ladies. And Wolverine... too bad he never got to see Hugh Jackman in the role- he's have loved him.
